Predecessor Series II - 12/48
Successor Wolseley 4/50

The 14th October 1937 saw the introduction of the Series III of the 12/48 that replaced the earlier Series II 12/48.

A noticeable difference for the Series III is the bonnet louvres now consisting of many small vertical louvres enclosed by three long horizontal strips rather than the four long horizontal louvres of the Series II, along with the spare wheel now being stored behind the rear numberplate and all doors hinged from the front.

A rather more subtle difference being the windscreen is now in a slightly more upright position.

The 'Jackall' system was fitted as standard, whereby a hand pumped hydraulic system could be used to raise the front, rear, or all of the wheels off the ground.

Following the war, the 12/48 was re-issued until it was superceded by the radically new style of the Wolseley 4/50.
