May 2018

Saturday 19th May – ‘Drawing with Harris’.

Harris Mann, our Club Patron and British car designer, has offered to put on a ‘Drawing’ afternoon in Worcester for our members between 1100 – 1500.  Harris has designed for many famous marques in the past – Commer and Ford to name a couple. Harris also took over the Allegro project, then the Diablo project (Princess/Wolseley ‘Wedge’) and this was followed by his most famous work – the Triumph TR7. His final projects with British Leyland were the Metro and the Maestro. Today, Harris is involved in independent design consultancy in the automotive sector and lectures in design at Coventry University. This is a great opportunity for our members to meet up with Harris, have a chat and for him give a Master-class in the field of automotive art. Tea and Coffee provided.

Sunday 27th May and Monday 28th May – Prestatyn Car Show

High Street, Prestatyn, North Wales LL19 9BH

A classic car show held in Prestatyn, North Wales. Sunday Classic Car Run, followed by Bank Holiday Monday Static Show. Monday’s Static Show has cars from the early 1900’s through to modern supercars. The day starts with the arrival of cars at 0900 and with stalls, children’s entertainment and refreshments. Both days are free to enter and the static show is also free to all visitors. Area Contacts – Chris Jones, Richard Huelin and Dave White.

June 2018

Saturday 2nd and 3rd June –  ‘Classic and Performance Car Spectacular and Cheshire Autojumble show – the big one’!

Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire WA16 6QN

Organiser Stuart Holmes and Cheshire Auto Promotions. Up to 250 stalls, 90 plus clubs and over 2000 exhibits. This year, Wolseley Owners Club (WOC) will be on a large stand with Cambridge Oxford Owners Club (COOC) and Landcrab Owners International Club (LOCI) – a great mix of classic cars and much fun. Promises to be a superb weekend! Hot breakfasts, BBQ/Buffets, Hot and cold drinks available all weekend – Area Contact – Steve Worthington.

Sunday 17th June – Bourne Classic Car and Bike Carnival

The Well Head, South Street Car Park, West Street, Bourne, Lincolnshire, PE10.

A 300 plus vehicle and motorbike show, all on display on Father’s Day each year – Area Contacts Don and June Wilson.

Sunday 24th June – Swaton Vintage Day 

The Park, Thorpe Latimer, Sleaford, Lincolnshire NG34 0RF

Over 400 Vintage and Classic Cars, Tractors, Motorbikes, Commercial Vehicles, Stationary Engines and other machines. Amazing Lancaster Bomber and Dakota Flypast, Parade of Vehicles, Dog Show, Tea Tent, Bar (REAL Ales), Hog Roast and other Refreshments, Craft Tent, Trade Stands and Exhibitions, Children’s Games and Rides, Giant Tortoise and World War One Displays, Novelty Dog Show, Kung Fu Demonstration, Go Dance Display, Live Music and much more – Area Contacts Don and June Wilson.

Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June – Moffat Classic Car Rally 

Leave the M74 motorway at Junction 15 and follow the A701 to Moffat and if travelling from further south, the M6 from Birmingham & Manchester meets the M74 just north of Carlisle.

The rally accommodates 900 entries, some of which come hundreds of miles to participate. This 2 day event has a drive through the Moffat hills on the Saturday which is a glorious sight and Sunday is the main gathering in the Moffat showground, with a large display of classic cars, auto-jumble/trade stands and children’s entertainment. July 2018

Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July – Wiston Steam Rally 

Wiston Park, Steyning Road, Steyning, West Sussex BN44 3DZ.

The Rally has more than 1,100 exhibits in attendance ranging from steam traction engines to vintage vehicles. There is also a large fun fair with traditional rides and side stands. Around the field there are fascinating displays of buses, tractors, cars, lorries, military vehicles, bicycles and motorcycles. The Working Area at the Rally is the place to see a steam powered demonstrations including woodcutting at the saw benches and stationary engines. A weekend of wonderful sights and family fun. Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July – Woodhall Spa 1940’s Festival 

Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire.

The Woodhall Spa 40’s Festival consists of a wide variety of 40’s ‘Home Front’ themed events which take place at numerous venues across the village throughout the weekend. Other than a small charge for car parking, the Festival is free! Come along and enjoy the unique atmosphere of Woodhall Spa as we turn back time! There will be events, entertainers, living history groups, competitions, vintage vehicles, military vehicles, trade stands and other! Wolseley Owners Club has joined in with this Festival event in the past – Fantastic – Area Contacts – Richard Spencer and Mike Parry.

Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th August –  Lincolnshire Steam and Vintage Rally 2018 

County Showground A15 Lincoln LN2 2NA –

In its 33rd year.  Over 1500 exhibits expected. Free Car parking – Old-time Fair – Refreshments and Licensed Bar – Area Contacts – Don and June Wilson.

Saturday 19th – Saturday 25th August – Steve and Joanne’s Tour 

Steve and Joanne Turner from Cambridge Oxford Owners Club (COOC) and WOC members, have invited WOC members to join in with their Tour in 2018. Some of our members have been on the COOC Tours before and found these to be excellent. Steve and Joanne are doing a weeklong tour in 2018, which will start on Sunday 19th August and end on Saturday 25th August, starting with a large rally at Lowestoft in Suffolk, which is the furthest point East in the UK and finishing at St David’s in Pembrokeshire, the furthest point West in Wales. Following the large gathering of mainly BMC & BL vehicles at Lowestoft, they will travel across East Anglia for the first overnight stay in the Thetford area and on Monday, visit The Bressingham Steam Collection near Diss, then continue on to Cambridge for the 2nd overnight stay, before visiting the air museum at Duxford. Following a few hours at Duxford they will continue across to Oxford for the next overnight stop. On Wednesday, they will cross through the Cotswolds and in to the Wye Valley for the next overnight stay in this region. Thursday will see the tour crossing in to Wales and driving through The Brecon Beacons calling at The Brecon Mountain Railway, before the next overnight stay in the Welsh Valleys. On Friday morning, they will head for Tenby calling at Pendine Sands and the Museum of Speed en route. Finally on Saturday morning, they will head West to St David’s for a Grand Finale rally to welcome drivers as they complete the run. Members can take part in as much or as little of this event as they wish, as the run crosses through various counties en route. Total driving each day will be approximately 75 miles on less busy A and B roads and for those wishing to complete the whole route, the total distance is approximately 350 miles. Premier Inn are offering Steve a group discount rate for hotels along the route if they can get sufficient numbers, though to take advantage of this offer, Steve and Joanne will have to book early.
